Ramakrishnapuram bridge comes under GHMC, says Secunderabad Cantonment Board
Ramakrishnapuram: In reply to a recent petition to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) by Federation of North Eastern Colonies (FNECS) on the blocked road at Ramakrishnapuram Bridge, the SCB CEO, SVR Chandrashekar said that the land belongs to GHMC and does not fall under the SCB purview.” For the past several years, a wall was constructed blocking the service road on the southwestern side under the Ramakrishna Flyover.
Now, the ball is in Greater Hyderabad Municipality Corporation court to take up the issue after the (SCB) made it clear that the flyover was constructed by GHMC and the access to service road under it is an issue pertains to them says, CS Chandrashekar, secretary, FNECS. “This is an unauthorized encroachment which blocks the passage of traffic on the public road. Because of the road closure, there is a massive traffic.
He further added that due to heavy traffic the commuters are struggling to take a U-turn and are forced to join the road in a wrong way resulting accidents and also causing traffic congestion at the western side of the flyover. It may be noted that the residents of Sainikpuri protested for several weeks last year and also took up shramdaan beneath the Ramakrishnapuram flyover to draw the attention of the authorities but to no avail. Chandrashekar says, “The GHMC has to dismantle the wall and provide free passage to the citizens.”
