Fire personnel’s touch of humanity saves pigeon
Charminar: Reflecting ethos of humanity, a fire-fighter took up a challenging task at the top of Charminar to rescue a pigeon which was entangled in kite-maanja on Monday.
While performing the standby duty at Charminar in connection with Bonalu procession, some fire service personnel observed that a pigeon was struggling to free itself after it got entangled in maanja. Finding that it was desperately fighting for its life, the fire-fighters found that the one of the wings of this fully grown pigeon was caught in the threads, which were hanging through bamboos, which are part of the renovation work at one of the Minar’s of the historic Charminar.
They took the staircase which leads to the upper section of the monument. Fire and Rescue Team Personnel led by Sadiq Ali, a leading fireman of Moghalpura Fire Station rushed along with his staff Abdul Khadeer and Shaik Munaf and rescued the pigeon safely by using ceiling hook, one of the equipments used for rescue purposes.
