CP Anjani Kumar warns cow vigilantes
Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar warned the ‘cow vigilante groups’ against taking law into their own hands during the Bakrid (Eid-uz-Zuha) festival.
He suggested denizens to dial 100, if they find any norms are flouted or in case of any trouble during the festival.
Addressing a coordination meeting with cattle sellers, Qureshis and religious heads and leaders in view of upcoming Bakrid festival held in Salarjung Museum hall, he requested the elders from the Muslim community to ensure that all the norms are followed and keep in mind various laws related to transportation and slaughtering of animals.
Later, while referring to the growing incidents of lynching by the ‘cow vigilante groups’, he called upon the religious heads to ensure that no violence takes place in the name of cow protection, as there was law of land to take care of any violations.
“It is the duty of police to take any kind of action under the constitutional framework. No one should take the law into his own hands in the name of cow protection,” the police commissioner said.
“If they find that the there was any incident of violation of norms related cattle transportation, immediately they can inform us, as it is our responsibility,” he explained.
Anjani Kumar assured full cooperation on behalf of Hyderabad City Police and advised all department officials to co-ordinate with police and qureshi community members to ensure that there should not be any inconvenience to citizens. He also advised department officials, particularly the GHMC, to see that the animal wastage disposed immediately on the day of festival.
The meeting was attended by TS Wakf Board chairman Md Saleem, MIM MLA Ahmed Pasha Quadri, Mufti Khaleel Ahmed, Murtuza Pasha Quadri, Jaffer Pasha, Hafiz Muzafar Hussain Bandanawazi and local corporators.
Officials of GHMC, water works, Electricity & other department, besides other police officials, Additional Commissioners D S Chowhan, Shikha Goel, Anil Kumar, DCP South Zone, V Satyanarayana, Additional DCP (Task Force), S Chaitanya Kumar, Additional DCP (South Zone), Ghouse Moinuddin and ACPs of South Zone along with inspectors were also present.
