RTC workers blame recognised unions for hardships
Musheerabad: Telangana RTC Employees’ Union general secretary K Raju Reddy claimed on Tuesday that the workers were facing daily hardships because of failure and inefficiency of the recognised unions.
Addressing the participants in the dharna in front of the RTC depot here, he attributed their hardships of workers to ‘failure’ of the association to reach an MoU after the strike ended and non-issue of circular on the promised payment of leave encashment by August 14 this year.
He demanded immediate payment of the LE amounts to all, including contract workers.
Reddy alleged that the management failed to pay CCS amounts totaling Rs 280 crore to the cooperative society, which was recovered from the workers’ wages.
This was also causing hardship to the employees who were not able to secure loans. He wondered why the recognised union was not initiating any action on this, while demanding the immediate payment of the amount.
He condemned the alleged harassment of workers because of non-release of uniforms during the last five years.
Reddy wanted the management to provide quality cloth as was being done in APSRTC.
Among those who took part in the protest programme were Hyderabad region treasurer Nagamayya, C Venkatayya, Srinayya, Kurumayya, Praveen, S Goud, K Gopal.
