Talasani Srinivas Yadav releases over one lakh fishlings in Buddaram Lake
Wanaparthy: Aiming to push to the fish production in Wanaparthy district, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Fisheries, released more than one lakh fishlings in Buddaram Lake in Gopalpet mandal and later inaugurated new Fish Market constructed at a cost of Rs. 10 lakh in the Gopalpet mandal headquarters on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the State government is giving special focus on the revival of hereditary employment in the rural areas which is the major backbone of rural economy.
He said the Golla Kuruva and fisherman (Besta) communities which were suffering due loss of their traditional employment during the previous regimes of Congress and TDP in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, have got new life as the TRS government is giving special attention to the revival of their traditional employment and helping them earn a comfortable living by improving their financial conditions.
“The State government has been working to improve the conditions of the traditional and hereditary employments in the rural areas. As part of this, we are giving subsidised sheep units to all the eligible Golla Kuruva communities. Also releasing lakhs of fishlings in lakes and ponds and supporting the fisherman to make a living by earning good returns in the villages,” the minister said.
“This apart, the state government is spending more than Rs, 40,000 crore for the welfare of people in the State. The government launched many innovative schemes and programmes for the poor people and providing quality healthcare by upgrading all the government hospitals across the State,” Talasani added.
Later, the minister gave away sheep units to eligible persons in Gopalpet mandal and also participated in the tree plantation as part of the Haritha Haram programme.
