Seven-year-old boy from Hyderabad climbs Africa's highest peak Mt. Kilimanjaro

A seven-year-old boy from Hyderabad, Samanyu Pothuraju, scaled the highest peak in Africa, Uhuru peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.

The boy along with his coach unfurled the Tricolour at a height of 5,895 m above the sea level on April 2.

Sharing his feat, Samanyu was quoted saying by ANI, "I really felt happy after trekking Mount Kilimanjaro. I like snow a lot and that is the reason I went to Mt.Kilimanjaro. It was raining in-between and there were rocks in between my way, I was very tired but I went on to see the snow. Pawan Kalyan is my favourite hero, my mom promised me that she will make me meet him if I try the world record, now am eagerly waiting to meet him. I will go to Australia peak in next month ending and want to make the record. Am studying in 3rd class and computer is my favourite subject, I will never neglect my studies because of this."

The trek also involved Pothuraju’s mother Lavanya, a fellow mountaineer Shangabandi Srujana, another woman, all hailing from Hyderabad and a local doctor from Tanzania. They began the trek on March 29 from the base point and took about five days to reach the peak.
