Medak district administration begins election-related exercises
Medak: The arrangements for the elections are in full swing in Medak district. Works such as the preparation of the final voters list, identification of the polling centres, arranging EVMs and others have been taken up. On Monday, district collector Dharma Reddy held a meeting with the officials of the district administration. After the meeting, the draft district electoral rolls were announced. Corrections, additions and omissions would be taken up on the basis of this draft. Special camps would be held for enrolling new voters on September 14 and 15.
According to the draft rolls, Medak constituency as 1,82,464 voters of whom 88404 are men, 94055 females and five are others. In Narsapur constituency, there are 1,88,909 voters, including 95703 men, 95201 females and five others. The corrections to the voters list would be completed by October 6. The district collector has asked the officials to ensure that there were no errors in the voters list.
Meanwhile, the files pertaining to the last elections in the district are being brought from Sangareddy, which was the district collectorate for the undivided Medak district. According to the earlier records, Medak district had 248 polling centres in Medak and 261 in Medka. The officials are planning to increase the number of polling centres by adding another 29 centres. The administration is also planning to organize awareness camps on the EVMs and the Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) from September 17. As many as 600 VVPAT EVMs would be brought from Bengaluru for use in the district.
