Srikakulam Grips Under Cyclone Phethai

Cyclone Phethai brewed over the Bay of Bengal hit Coastal Andhra Pradesh. According to Indian Meteorological department,  heavy to very heavy rainfall has been forecast for coastal Andhra Pradesh on December 16 and 17. Phethai is expected to cross the Andhra coast on the afternoon of December 17 -- Monday. 

The IMD officials said the  deep depression is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm with winds of up to 100 kmph by tomorrow morning.

By December 16 (Sunday) morning , Cyclone Phethai will further intensify into a 'severe cyclonic storm' with winds of up to 110 kmph, before dropping in intensity back to a cyclonic storm by evening on December 17 (Monday).
