HYDERABAD: On Monday the ‘Save KBR’ campaign continued to grabbed attention as hundreds of concerned citizens came forward to participate in the movement, the aim is to protect the largest lung space in Hyderabad that currently is posing a threat from the multi-core Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP) of the state government.

By signing an online petition that was floated by the ‘Citizens for Hyderabad’ had urged the ministry of environment, forest and climate change (MoEF&CC) to mark a one kilometre area around the park as its ESZ -- for the circulation of videos highlighting the importance of the national park.

“Metro is a great step to strengthen public transport. Authorities must look at improving its last mile connectivity rather than rolling out a fresh multi-level flyover project. My friends in Delhi keep nebulizers at home for their kids. I don’t want such a life for my child,” said Akshat Narang who fears that Hyderabad might go the Delhi way, if it's green cover isn’t protected.

Homemaker Saritha Gitta agrees. “Development is good, but not at the cost of environmental destruction. My daily morning walks in the park are extremely refreshing. I want generations after me to enjoy it.”

HR analyst, Eyunni Namrata had said that, “No number of flyovers or Metros will do any good if there aren’t any people to use them,” she said underling the risks that bulldozing the park poses.
