The horticulture department which maintains the governor’s residence is struggling to find a solution. “We’re used to catching dogs but have no expertise with cats,”said a senior official.
Offcials reported 30 cats prowling over 25 acres. “ All cats can’t be captured on a single day; the exercise will jabe to be spread over a few days. We have to sought the help of NGOs and volunteers who are experts in handling pets. We have asked them to prepare a proposal , with costs and procedures involved. Once it’s ready , the propsal to catch the cats will be placed before the BBMP commissioner for approval”, added a senior offcial with BBMP’s animal husbandary department.
BBMP are also searching for cat caretakers and animal NGOs. Till then , the civic body will bear the expenditure for milk and other food items for the cats.
