An apt tribute to Ghantasala

Update: 2018-12-06 05:30 IST

All lovers of scintillating melodies of late Ghantasala vow a debt of gratitude to THI for an apt article on his birth anniversary (Dec.04).I knew Ghantasala as a small singer in the loud speaker unit in 1955 and since then I was an enchanted lover of his mellifluous rendition of any song, like his patriotic songs: Swatantrya Siddhi,Amma Sarojini Devi and so on are numerous film songs but it was in 60's I saw him  when I grew.

His voice was exponential matching  NTR or ANR with ease or bhakti song for Nagaiah as Valmiki and what not. I can't see great lyricists like Atreya, Sri Sri,Samudrala et al inseparably from Ghantasala. He was so humane that as Pithapuram Medhavapeddi, Srinivas et al acknowledged his music direction. As Md.Rafi came to Madras to sing Hindi version of Suvarna Sundari's Ragamalika by P.Adinarayana Rao he is said to have encouraged even Rafi.
