Massive crowds at hospital as doctors strive to save Karunanidhi

Chennai: A massive number of people and DMK supporters gathered outside Chennai’s Kauvery hospital where DMK chief Karunanidhi is admitted. Security has been beefed up and police lathi charged to disperse the crowd. 

MK Stalin issued a statement over Karunanidhi’s health saying he's normalizing and closely being monitored. He appealed to cadres to not indulge in violence or disturb police or public.

With hundreds of people continue to throng the hospital in Alwarpet, the city police have been working round-the-clock to maintain law and order in the locality. The hospital is located on a prime junction and thousands of vehicles, including MTC buses, pass through the road regularly. The stretch sees slow traffic on Saturdays, when devotees throng the Alwarpet Anjaneyar Temple.

“When hundreds of party cadre gather at the Luz Church Road-TTK Road junction, ensuring traffic flow is a big challenge. Our personnel are working round-the-clock to ensure that neither the public nor the party cadre are affected,” a senior police officer said.
