Two arrested for illegally selling narcotic drug in Delhi
New Delhi: Two employees of a de-addiction centre were arrested for illegally selling Buprenorphine tablets received from the government, police said Tuesday.
The accused were identified as Franklin Lazarus (54) and Manish Kumar Mehta (40), employees of Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses (SPYM).
"The Crime Branch received information that the two are involved in illegal sale of narcotic drug Buprenorphine which is supplied by government to the de-addiction centers of SPYM NGO.
The drug was meant to be given to addicts admitted there," Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ajit Kumar Singla said.
Lazarus was arrested from Vasant Kunj area with an illegal consignment of 3,800 tablets of Buprenorphine which he was supposed to deliver to one of his customers.
A case was registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
During investigation, Mehta was also arrested, Singla said.
The two would sell a strip of Buprenorphine tablets for Rs 200 each, Singhla said.
