4th ODI: Rohit, Rayudu help India post a daunting 377/5

Update: 2018-10-30 00:50 IST

Riding on centuries from Rohit Sharma (162) and Ambati Rayudu, India scored a terrifying total of 377-5 against the Windies in the fourth One-day International (ODI) at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Monday.

Rohit Sharma team India opener scored 162 in the fourth ODI against Windies on Monday to register his third century in six ODI matches. On the whole, the century is the 31-year-old right-handed batsman's 21st in ODI cricket. As an opener, Rohit has hit 19 out of his 21 centuries in ODI cricket. He has surpassed Sachin Tendulkar to record second most sixes by an Indian cricketer in ODI cricket, achieving the feat after slamming his second six in the fourth ODI against Windies on Monday. Rohit overtakes Sachin's 195 sixes in 186 ODI innings.

Sharma and Rayudu set up a terrific 211-run partnership for the third wicket. Sharma played a 162-run knock, scoring his seventh 150-plus total while Rayudu notched up his third century. After winning the toss, Captain Virat Kohli, elected to bat and the team took off with an impressive beginning with Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan taking on the Windies bowlers right from the word go. Both the openers added 71 runs for the first wicket but Dhawan got out for 38, yet again failing to capitalize on a good start.

Kohli suffered an odd failure as he left the ground for 16, in an attempt to play a casual shot against Kemar Roach. After Kohli's exit, Rohit and Ambati Rayudu consolidated the Indian innings in the middle overs. Sharma smashed 20 boundaries and four sixes while Rayudu slammed eight boundaries and four sixes in his 100-run knock. Towards the end, MS Dhoni (23 off 15 balls) and Kedar Jadhav (16 off 7 balls) helped India get past the 350-run mark. For the Windies, it was a hard day at work as all the bowlers were taken to the cleaners. Kemar Roach was the highest wicket-taker for the team, finishing with figures of 2-74.
