TSWRS Narsingi sweeps hockey titles
Hyderabad: TSWRS Narsingi School rode on B Santosha and T Jasmine’s twin strikes to win the girls U16 hockey title defeating Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet 2-0 in a closely fought encounter in the SFA Championships, India’s largest professional inter-school sporting event, currently underway at the Gachibowli Stadium here on Monday.
It was TSWRS Narsingi School all the way as they clinched the girls U12 and U14 titles too. Interestingly, Hyderabad’s former national player J Ramesh is the coach for all TSWRS Narsingi School teams which swept the girls hockey titles in SFA this season.
In the girls U12 category, K Kaveri scored twice as TSWRS Narsingi School Blue defeated TSWRS Narsingi School Red 2-0 in a tough encounter. In the girls U14 category, T Navya scored as TSWRS Narsingi School Purple beat TSWRS Narsingi School 1-0 in penalties.
In the boys U14 section, Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet scored a convincing 2-0 win over Future Kids Public School, Puppal Guda. Praveen Kumar and Sagar Jonalagadda were the scorers for the winners.
In Taekwondo, Vikram Sai K of KV Nalgonda School defeated Mani Kumar C of MJPTBC 8-4 to clinch the gold in the boys U12 under-25kg event. In the semis, Vikram got the better of his school mate Mani Kumar G 28-2 and Mani Kumar C defeated Sai Gade of SPR Nalgonda School 16-10 to make it to the title round.
In the under-32 kg girls U12 section Krithika Goud Indirala of Akshara School defeated Shaheen Md of Little Flower Vignana School 28-21 to clinch the gold. In the first semi-final, Krithika beat Sarayu Nunemuntala of Pallavi Aware School 31-27 in a close fought encounter and Shaheen got the better of Advika Prashant Bhavar of Rockwell School 28-9. Priyanka Morampudi of Sriram Universal School won the gold in the U12 girls under-38 kg category.
In Karate, Mahathi Pillalamarri of Silver Oaks School won the gold in the girls U13 kata section with a maximum flag score of 5-0 versus here opponents.
India’s largest professional inter-school sporting championship, SFA will see 20 sports, including 15 disciplines of Olympic sports, in the 10-day sporting extravaganza for students across Hyderabad and will end on November 5.
