1.17 lakh benefitted from sheep distribution scheme: Talsani

Hyderabad : Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that the State Government has spent Rs. 2,138 crore on distribution of sheep which benefited 1.17 lakh people.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Talasani said that the State Government had allocated Rs. 5,000 crore on sheep distribution scheme. The scheme was launched on 20th June 2017 and so far, Rs. 2,138 crore have been spent which includes Rs. 1603 crore subsidy. He said Mobile Veterinary Ambulance was started for all Assembly segments in 2017 and Rs. 30 crore were spent on 100 vehicles.

The minister said that the government was giving Rs. 4 per litre incentive to milk farmers. He said last year a total of 162 veterinary doctors were also appointed and 28 doctors were hired on contract basis. He said there was a proposal to hire another 73 veterinary doctors on contract basis. He said steps were on to recruit 541 Veterinary Assistants through Telangana State Public Service Commission.
