Numaish visitors throng Laad Bazaar as well
Charminar: Footfall in the famous Laad Bazaar did not come down even as the annual all India industrial exhibition is on in the city. Large number of tourists is visiting Laad Bazar for the past fortnight.
The shop owners are happy that business took off during past one month after being dull for almost six months. Interestingly, the ongoing pedestrianisation works also could not deter the tourists from visiting Charminar and Laad Bazar.
Laad Bazar, famous for its bangles and ornamental jewellery, is now abuzz with the domestic and international tourists. Most of the people from across the state come to city only to visit Numaish and the same crowd is also visiting Laad Bazar, it was observed by the Laad Bazar businessmen.
Abdul Hameed, a bangle seller from the market said that foot fall is high for almost a month and every one were doing good business. He said that the business was hit after GST however it was taking off now.
He said, “Pedestrianisation works are a real worry for the businessmen here however this factor did not affect the business. These works will go on for few more months but there will be no worries if tourists come in the large number.”
It is to be noted that the small size tiles laid on the Laad Bazar Road are said not to be walker- friendly. Many shop owners and pedestrians moving on this road said that it makes walking difficult. A bag shop owner from the market Jaffer Hussain said that small tiles on the stretch were rather a difficulty for pedestrians.
He said that proper engineering was not done before taking this decision to lay the tiles here. He said that many people fell down unable to walk on the un-even tiles here.
