Revanth tars power deals in graft paint
Hyderabad: Congress leader and MLA Revanth Reddy on Tuesday alleged that the government had been indulging in corruption on a large-scale in power purchases.
Addressing the media, he said the government entered into agreements with the companies which are running in losses. Corruption had taken place in the agreements entered into with some companies, he added. Revanth Reddy said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao appointed his close friends as heads of the distribution companies rather than appointing IAS officers.
He wanted that the government come out with a white paper on the purchases made in the power sector in the past three years. He said the statements on power purchases being made by TS Transco CMD D Prabhakar Rao were lies.
The government should come for an open debate on the issue. Revanth said the government paid Rs 957 crore to a company under deceitful agreement. Some officers have been shifted from Energy Department as they did not approve to such agreements.
