KCR directs officials to disclose details of power purchase over CAG report
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed the power department officials to disclose details on power purchases following the release of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) latest audit report.
As per the report, the Telangana power utilities purchased short-term power in excess of the limit set by the State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC) at higher rates causing the extra cost of Rs 5,820.90 crore during 2012-17.
Following the CAG report, KCR, objecting to the remarks made in the report, has instructed the electricity department officials to disclose all details of power purchases done in the last four years to clear out the misconception.
Also, the chiefs of the two discoms and transco have been asked to provide an explanation to CAG on its observations.
Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy will be releasing the details of power purchases along with an explanation.
