Efforts on to ramp up farm production, trim costs :PJTSAU V-C

Hyderabad: Professor Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Praveen Rao said that the University was evolving location-specific and farmer-centric Research and Extension (R&E) priorities.

Addressing the first Research and Extension Advisory Council Meeting (R&EAC) of the varsity here on Tuesday, he said these efforts were meant to increase production and cut down production costs. In turn, this would help in betterment of farmers livelihood and their social development.

Rao also said that there was a need to validate the organic farm produce and their quality besides other aspects associated with it.  State Commissioner for Agriculture M Jagan Mohan stressed on the need for collaboration between the University and Agriculture department to improve delivery of extension services to farmers. He also said that the department has also taken up new initiatives to make agriculture a remunerative sector for farmers. 

University’s Board of Management Committee Member Dr EASiddique, Registrar Dr S Sudheer Kumar, Director Seed Certification Agency DrKeshavulu, several farmers, principal scientists and Heads of Research stations, DAATTC’S, Krishi Vignana Kendra’s (KVK’s) were among those participated and gave suggestions on R and E activities of the University. Earlier, Registrar Dr S Sudheer Kumar and Director of Extension Dr D Raji Reddy have presented the R and E highlights for the year 2014-16.
