Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party senior leader and former minister Nagam Janardhan Reddy and balladeer Gaddar’s son, G Surya Kiran are set to join the Congress party on Wednesday at Delhi.

Along with them, BJP leader Adi Srinivas will also join the Congress in the presence of AICC president Rahul Gandhi. Several leaders of Telangana Congress are likely to be present during the programme.

Nagam has recently severed ties with BJP and evinced interest in joining the Congress. The Congress high command has allowed his entry into the party after consulting with State leaders.

Though entry of Nagam has been opposed by Congress leaders DK Aruna and Damodar Reddy, the high command has decided to admit him in view of party interests.  Nagam has played a prominent role in the State politics through Telugu Desam Party in the united Andhra Pradesh. He served as minister in the cabinet of N Chandrababu Naidu.

He left Telugu Desam in 2013 and floated his own party Telangana Nagara Samithi and merged it with the BJP in 2014. He lost the election from Mahabubnagar parliamentary constituency in 2014 general elections on behalf of BJP. However, he left BJP few weeks ago and announced that he would join the Congress. Sources in the Congress said that former union minister S Jaipal Reddy and TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy played a key role in this episode.

Meanwhile, balladeer Gaddar’s son G Surya Kiran is set to join the Congress on Wednesday. The 42-year-old has worked for TRS in Malkajgiri parliamentary constituency. He has also worked for BJP in the elections to MLC posts.
