GHMC chief issues guidelines for use of cleaning of roads

Hyderabad : GHMC Commissioner Dr. B. Janardhan Reddy has directed all the Zonal Commissioners, DCs and AMOHs to utilize the modernized equipments with technological arrangements to ensure that cent per cent cleaning of the roads is taken up in a systematic manner.
 
He also asked them to personally monitor and check that the machinery is used regularly and recommend for payment only after verification against the set guidelines.
 
The GHMC Commissioner directed that sweeping machines should be able to sweep the road, street etc. at an average speed of 6 km/l. The equipment should have a dust collector container of minimum 5.00 Cu. m. with water tank provision. The equipment should have best technological arrangement to ensure that the dust content in the exhaust air, from machine is less than the existing / prevailing pollution control norms. The equipment should be able to sweep an overall width of minimum 3,000 mm in one sweep / suction.
 
The entire sweeping operation like lowering and raising of side brushes nozzle, operating of sweeping brushes etc. should be hydraulic / pneumatic actuated. The sweeper should be designed in such a way so that during travel in the sweeping mode, the vehicle is able to travel at a sweeping speed of 6 km/h. The sweeper should be capable of traveling at its normal / specified travel speed, when going for dumping /discharge of collected material.
 
The machine should have a wandering hose of 4 m length for cleaning any heaps in inaccessible areas, the Commissioner directed.
 
Further, the vacuum suction system should incorporate a cyclonic separator OR other requisite system and required mechanism for filtration system for efficient, trouble free easy to maintain & to ensure that the suction efficiency of the machine is not affected at any time during sweeping, due to dust load and meeting statutory PM-I0 Pollution Control Norms.
 
The machine should be self-sufficient in all aspects including cleaning of dust load, during sweeping operation - with or without spray of water. Machine must be able to handle both wet and dry type of waste without any trouble.
