SFI demands govt medical college in Khammam
Khammam: Student Federation of India (SFI) district unit secretary T Nagaraju here on Thursday demanded that the government establish a medical college in Khammam.
The SFI held a meeting under the leadership of district unit President Ch Ramesh here at Sundharayya Bhavan in here to discuss the issue. Speaking in the meeting, Nagaraju said every district has a medical college. The government sanctioned medical colleges in Suryapet and Nalgonda. But there is not government medical college in Khammam district, he said.
The students, who are economically poor, cannot fulfil their aspirations to become doctors. The managements of private medical colleges were collecting high fees, he alleged.
He warned that the SFI would organise a massive agitation in coordination with other people’s organisations if the government failed to meet the demand for a medical college in Khammam district. SFI leaders J Ashok, B Hemanth, Uma Mangesh, Madhu, Sudhakar, Rafi, Prem, Chennakeshav and Gayatri were present at the programme.
