Rural district gears up for plantation drive

Warangal: District Collector M Haritha said that Haritha Haram, the flagship programme of the government, will be implemented with missionary zeal. In a review meeting with the officials here on Monday, she said that saplings will be planted on a massive scale in open spaces at the government offices and educational institutions by involving all sections of society.

Stating that 30 lakh teak saplings are ready with the administration, she appealed to farmers to take up the plantation on a massive note in barren land from July 17. She directed the officials of all departments to take the responsibility of distributing saplings. Haritha told the officials to involve the panchayat secretaries and field assistants to get better results.

Speaking at the meeting, DFO K Purushotham said that efforts are on to achieve the plantation drive target set by the government. He sought the support of all the departments to make the fourth phase of the Haritha Haram a big success.DRDA Sekhar Reddy, DPO Anil Kumar Reddy, Agriculture joint director Usha Dayal and DEO Narayan Reddy were among others present.
