Everyone should take part in green drive: Joint Collector

Peddapalli: District Joint Collector Vanaja Devi said that all people in the district should participate in fourth phase of Telanganaku Haritha Haram programme and make it a grand success besides, establishing pleasant atmosphere in the district.  

As part of the fourth phase of Telanganaku Harith Haram programme, the Joint Collector planted saplings on the premises of MPDO office in Peddapalli on Friday. 

Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Collector said that to increase the forest area to 33 per cent in the State and to maintain ecological balance, the State government launched the prestigious programme called Haritha Haram in Telangana.  The JC said that it is the responsibility of every individual to increase the forest area to 33 per cent as it is only 14.8 per cent in the district at present. 

The government employees, officials, teachers, students and businessmen must participate in the programme and must plant saplings along with protecting them.

It is the responsibility of concern officials and people to protect the planted saplings for at least three years, she added. District in-charge DRDO Prem Kumar, District Civil Supply Officer Rehaman, CPO K Ravinder, District Treasures Sathya Kumar, Peddapalli MPP S Sunitha, MPDO Kumaraswamy and other officials were also present.
