Hanamkonda: The representatives of various student unions on Tuesday condemned the attack on student union leader Umar Khalid by the activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal in New Delhi.

The representatives of Democratic Students Union (DSU), Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV), Chaitanya Mahila Sangham (CMS) and Student Federation of India (SFI) burnt an effigy of RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal activists at Ambedkar statue in Hanamkonda.

They demanded the government ban the organisations alleging that they are encouraging communalism and terrorism in the country. They also alleged that BJP is encouraging communalism and terrorism in the country and provoking the activists of its affiliation groups RSS, VHP and Bajrand Dal to attack and kill the persons who are fighting for the rights of SC, ST, BC and Minorities.

Speaking on this occasion, the representatives of student unions alleged that the activists of BJP and its affiliation groups RSS and VHP tried to attack and kill the student union leader Umar Khalid, who is a research scholar at Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.

Instead of focusing on various problems the people are suffering with, the BJP is trying to spread Hinduism and communalism among the people in the country. The people are watching every move of the BJP government and ready to teach fitting lesson, they warned.

They demanded the Central government to take action against those, who attacked Umar Khalid, by arresting them immediately along with imposing ban on RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal. The representatives of DSU, TVV, CMS and SFI, Kancharla Badhri, Avinash, Sai, Rama, Bhagya, Samskruthi were present along with others.
