Hanamkonda: There is something in the air and water in Warangal that gave me positivity in the life, the outgoing Urban district Collector, Amrapali Kata said, speaking at the felicitation organised by the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) here on Friday. “The city is close on the heels of witnessing a huge change,” she said, referring to the ongoing developmental works that are nearing completion.

“Although I spent hundreds of hours discussing with the officials, I never felt monotonous as we had some very interesting projects on hand to carry,” she said, stating that there is something in the air here in Warangal that kept me going. Speaking on the occasion, KUDA chairman Marri Yadava Reddy said: “Officials may come and go, but Amrapali is one such an affable person, we seldom find such persons.”

He said that Amrapali has a huge fan following in Warangal that no other Collector in the past had. “Amrapali is a youth icon. She is an inspirational personality. This apart, no politician in the district raised a finger against her,” Reddy said, stating that transfers are part and parcel of a bureaucrat. He went emotional on the occasion.

“A few months ago, we had a formidable trio - Amrapali Kata, Commissioner of Police G Sudheer Babu and Municipal Commissioner Sruthi Ozha – who looked like a core team,” Reddy recalled. Lee Associates team leader Anand Voleti, KUDA executive engineer Bheem Rao, Planning Officer E Ajit Reddy and secretary Muralidhar Rao were among others present.
