Administration keen on growing herbal plants

Hanamkonda: District Collector Amrapali kata said that the administration has its focus on promoting herbal gardens. Inspecting herbal garden sites near Gopalpur and TB Hospital here on Friday, she said that they have plans to establish nurseries at Elkathurthy and Dharmasagar mandals so that to raise herbal gardens on a massive note in the urban district.

“Plans are afoot to grow medicinal plants in the 10 acres land of Ayush College land, forest department land near Kakatiya University and other places. Officials were told to prepare proposals for the same,” she said.

Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairman Marri Yadava Reddy said that emphasis is on to provide clean air to denizens by taking up plantation drive in the Corporation limits. “Massive plantation drives will be organised in order to turn the city into oxygen zones,” Reddy said.

Chief Conservator of Forests M J Akbar said that on the lines of Hyderabad focus is on raising medicinal plants along with other plants used for Haritha Haram. District forest officer Arpana Syal was among other officials present.
