Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu checks new EVMs
Asifabad: District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu examined the new EVMs and first-level checking boxes at the market yard warehouse here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the engineers from Bengaluru-based Bharath Electronic Limited will inspect five ballot unit boxes and five control unit boxes per day and check whether the buttons, reading and other features are working properly or not.
They will put a green stamp on those work perfectly and put red stamp on non-functioning EVMs and return them to Bengaluru.
The inspection will continue for one week. A total of 850 ballot units and 670 control units have reached the district and 720 VVFATs are yet to arrive, the Collector said.
The engineers have checked the EVMs in the presence of Vishwa Prasad (Congress district secretary), Satish Babu (BJP State executive), P Shankar (CPI mandal activist) MD Salman Khan (mandal general secretary MIM), Sravan Goud, Mahesh Chary and other activists.
After inspecting the warehouse where the EVMs were stored, the Collector directed the officials to fix CCTV cameras and to strengthen security arrangements.
Joint Collector Dr P Rambabu, DRO Rajeshwar, RDO Kadam Suresh, Deputy Tahsildar Jitender, leaders of various political parties and others were present on the occasion.
