Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Campaign Committee decided to hold public meetings of AICC former president Sonia Gandhi and current chief Rahul Gandhi as part of the campaign for the ensuing Assembly elections.

The committee comprising chairman Bhatti Vikramarka, star campaigner Vijaya Santhi, former MLA D K Aruna and others met for the first time at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday after its formation and discussed the campaign strategy. Addressing the media on behalf of the Committee, Vikramarka said that Sonia Gandhi would address public meetings in north and south Telangana.

Rahul Gandhi would address few public meetings in the erstwhile 10 districts of the State. He said that the campaign of the party would be held on the dictatorial regime of caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao and aspirations of the people. He said that a good strategy would be drawn to expose the failures of the government and to defeat the TRS party.

Vikramarka alleged that the TRS had shattered the dreams of people of Telangana. Though the state is meant for four crore people, only one family had been reaping the benefits of the formation of Telangana. He called upon balladeer Gaddar, poet Gorati Venkanna and revolutionary singer Vimalakka to participate in the campaign of the party. He said that poets, intellectuals, artists and educationists should review how far Telangana has been benefited with formation of the State and work along with the Congress.

Vikramarka said that they would not fear the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and would fight on behalf of the people. He said that the Campaign Committee would strive to take the manifesto of the Congress into the people.

He wanted the cooperation of the media in establishing a people’s government. He said that the schedules of the meetings and road shows would be announced soon. He alleged that the caretaker Chief Minister had been instigating attacks on the people who have been questioning him.

Co-chairman of the committee DK Aruna said that they would take the corruption of the government into the people. She said that the TRS has no right to seek votes from the people.

Star campaigner Vijaya Santhi said that statehood to Telangana has been achieved with lot of struggle but the State is witnessing a rule of dictator. She said that people have prepared themselves for a war against Chandrashekar Rao’s family.
