The All India Small Scale Industries Minorities Committee demanded that all the political parties include “Self Employment” particularly at the lower strata of the society in their manifestoes and give assurances for necessary steps for ameliorating the conditions of the unemployed youth and women. In a press release, committee president S Z. Sayeed said the economic condition of millions of families was not satisfactory and most of them find it difficult to make both ends meet.

Since independence all political parties and the governments both at the State and the Centre have ignored the unemployed problem and never thought of providing them assistance to stand them on their feet. He said that in the country nobody had tried to divert the attention of the political parties towards the issues of unemployed youth for helping them to start their own units, however small it is. He further said that the poor people do not have access to the financial resources to start their production units.

He lamented that the government was spending several crores of rupees on higher and professional education, but not paying attention on providing suitable employment to the youth. The situation is that most of the youth even after acquiring higher technical degrees such as M. Tech or B.Tech do not get employment of even Rs 10,000 per month. He expressed the hope that parties will give priority to solve the problems of unemployed youth and provide them suitable loans and financial assistance to start their own units.
