Bahujan Bathukamma organised by NFIW

Jagadgirigutta: Social activist Vimalakka observed here on Wednesday that real offering for Bathukamma is to ensure protection of the nature, girl child and ending the caste system. Taking part as the chief guest at the ‘Bahujan Bathukamma’ organised by NFIW at Jagadgirigutta and Maqdoomnagar in Qutbullapur constituency, she described the colourful festival as the biggest festival in Telangana. 

Vimalakka called for implementing steps to protect people from being exploited by the rich. She advised the Bahujans to fight for their welfare, while pointing out that Bahujan women should unitedly celebrate Bathukamma without remaining confined to their homes.

Addressing the participants, NFIW city president Varamma stated that Bathukamma, during which women and children happily celebrate the festival, reflected the Telangana culture and practices. Members of cultural troupes enthralled the audience with their performances.
