Bheema Puskaralu begins in Mahbubnagar

Mahbubnagar: Launching the Bheema Puskaralu the ritual of holy dip in Bheema River at Shukralingampally village in Krishna mandal on Thursday, Narayanapet Revenue Division Officer (RDO) Cheerla Srinivas, along with Makthal MLA Chittam Ram Mohan Reddy and Endowment Assistant Commissioner Srinivas Rao, took a holy dip in the river and gave haarati to the river.

Earlier, District Collector Ronald Rose directed the concerned Irrigation and Endowments officials in the district to conduct the Bheema Puskaralu on a grand scale from 11 to 22 October in Krishna mandal in the district. 

In fact, the Bheema River is a tributary of Krishna River. It enters Mahbubnagar district at Shukralingampally in Krishna mandal and flows through Kusunooru and Tangadi villages over a stretch of 10 kilometres before merging with main Krishna River at Tangadi village.

“We are taking all steps to see that the once in 12 year feat of ritual of Bheema Puskaralu be held in a grand manner in all the three villages through which the river flows in Mahabubanagar district,” said Ronald rose while releasing a wallpaper to promote the Bheema Puskaralu. 

The Collector said the departments of Police, Roads and Buildings, Panchayati Raj, Sanitary and Municipal, Irrigation, Endowments and Public Relations are working in coordination with each other to make this programme a grand success.

They are taking all steps to ensure the visiting pilgrims and devotees do not face any problems during the puskaralu. It is expected that more than 4 lakh devotees will be taking the holy dip in the Bheema River during the puskaralu.
