Protest for mandal completes two years

Gattuppal (Nalgonda): The protest for carving out Gattuppal mandal that had started on Dasara in 2016, completed two years on Wednesday. The villagers’ protest in the name of Gattuppal Sadhana Samithi was started on Dashera day in 2016, when government had withdrawn formation of announced Gattuppal mandal at the last minute due to group politics between two main leaders of the Munugodu constituency.

Villagers showing their unity have been staging demonstrations for two years to achieve the mandal. Leaders of opposition parties and civic organizations expressed their solidarity with the Gattuppal villagers. 

Even IT Minister KTR had assured the villagers of creating Gattuppal mandal during the constituency level Pragathi Sabha held at Chandur six months ago but in vain.

Gattuppal Sadana Samithi convener Idem Kailasam informed that Chandur mandal is 25 kilometers from their village and villagers of Gattuppal are agitating for promised mandal for the last two years. Married women have not been unable to visit their parents house, as the villagers are not celebrating any festival from Dashera festival day in 2016 on which the government withdrew the announced Gattuppal mandal.
