Rainwater harvesting theme park opens
Hyderabad: State chief secretary SK Joshi inaugurated water harvesting theme park at Road No. 51, Jubilee Hills on Thursday. The park is built with an aim to bring awareness among city residents on water preservation and water harvesting through percolation pits.
Constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore, the park has model constructions demonstrating water preservation methods to be used in buildings and canals. The park has 42 different models of water preservation methods. To teach kids value of water, the animated videos explaining value of water will be shown at the park. Apart from these videos, 3D videos showing how water is being supplied to Hyderabad from Krishna and Godavari will be screened.
The park has three umbrella shaped domes which showcase how rain water can be preserved. Apart from this, the park has several games for children which teach them about water harvesting. Children can know the water content in their body by standing on a large scale installed at the park. Chief secretary Joshi said that this theme park would help future generations understand the value of water. 3D videos about the water supply to Hyderabad clearly demonstrate the efforts put on by Jalamandali, he said.
Among those participated in this programme included MAUD principal secretary Arvind Kumar, Jalamandali MD M Dana Kishore, Jalamandali secondary transmission director Dr PS Suryanarayana, Operations-2 director P Ravi, technical director MB Praveen Kumar and officials of Jalamandali.
