Update: 2018-10-22 05:30 IST

Baghlingampalli: Vice president for All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), S Punyavathi, on Sunday gave a call to women to fight against the suppression of women rights. She condemned the unnecessary nuisance created against Kerala government for its efforts to implement the recent ruling given by the Supreme Court to allow women of all ages to visit Sabarimala Temple.  She urged the BJP to approach court if it differed with the ruling. She alleged that women’s rights were being suppressed by the NDA government at the Center.

Referring to their fight to increase women representation in legislature in the last 30 years, she questioned as to why BJP could not bring the women reservation bill. She cited the incidents at Kathua and Unnao to indicate the rise in violence against women. She appealed to women to stage a united fight against the violence.

She spoke in a meeting organised to discuss the AIDWA central committee meetings that are scheduled to be held at Sundaraiah Vignan Kendram, Baghlingampally from October 23-25. National women leaders Subhashini Ali, national president of the organization Malini Bhattacharya and secretary Davale are expected to attend the meetings. Also, central committee members from 20 different states who have participated in various women movements and agitations are also expected to attend the meetings.
