Agitated farmers try to block Joshi’s car
At the workshop farmers while expressing anguish over non-receipt of subsidy from the Horticulture Department, as specified in reservations, tried to block Chief Secretary S K Joshi by sleeping in front of his car, giving rise to tension. The department staff tried to remove the ryots, leading to a strong resistance from the latter. Joshi stepped out of the vehicle and tried his best to calm the agitators. He assured steps to ensure release of poly-house incentives to horticultural farmers.
The farmers told The Hans India that the department was misleading them on the release of incentives. They alleged that loans as promised by the government (75 per cent) were not forthcoming, even after the unemployed themselves had invested their share amount of 25 per cent.
