Kukatpally: One of the students of Mandal Primary School, located at Rickshaw Pullers Colony in Kakatpally mandal, was studying outside his classroom, when all of a sudden a roof flake fell on him. He was seriously injured. The school where as many as 320 students study is in a dilapidated condition and students sit under its roof with a constant fear of getting hurt.  The 30-year-old school also lacks basic amenities. The school lacks proper drinking water and toilet facilities. Windows of most class rooms are broken or completely removed. A tank provided by GHMC for storing drinking water is not being used.

Earlier, classes for both primary and high schools were held at the school. But with the construction of a new high school building at Venkateshwara Nagar, the old building slowly got ignored by the authorities. With lack of proper maintenance over the years, the school gradually lost its sheen. Although Rs 10 lakhs were sanctioned by the Telangana government for school repairs, authorities have so far failed to do any renovation works. Anxious parents have been demanding the authorities to renovate the school at the earliest.
