IRISET to celebrate 61st anniversary November 27
Tarnaka: Indian Railway Institute for Signal Engineering and Telecommunications (IRISET) is celebrating 61st Annual Day on November 27. IRISET plays trains the S&T personnel in Railway Signaling and Telecommunication Technologies. It imparts training to not only the S&T personnel of Indian Railways but also to other organizations in public and private sector like NTPC, DFCCIL, RITES, RVNL and RCIL etc. IRISET is alma mater of all S&T engineers, including Officers of Group A service of Signal Engineers i.e. IRSSE who are also trained here.
Established on November 24, 1957, IRISET is spread over 28.3 hectares. IRISET is equipped with 17 state-of-art laboratories, and 12 lecture halls provided with modern training facilities. The Institute encourages an all-round development of the trainees and is equipped with various sports facilities like badminton, cricket, lawn tennis, basketball, volley ball etc. for recreation purposes.
The Institute also has one indoor and one outdoor auditorium to promote various cultural activities. A Heritage Gallery displaying evolution of Signaling and Telecommunications has also been added. This year 145 courses of Signaling & Telecommunications have been conducted and approximately 3000 S&T personnel have been trained. The training of Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) has been restructured this year with inputs from IIM & rural attachment with district authorities. A module of Advanced Managerial training abroad has also been added.
Director General (S&T)/Railway Board, N Kashinath will grace the occasion. General Manager/South Central Railway Vinod Kumar Yadav, Director General/National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR), Pradeep Kumar, PCSTEs of Zonal Railways and other dignitaries from Railway Board will also be present on the day.
