Collector K Shashank inspects vote counting centre

Gadwal: With the Assembly elections are nearing, the district administration of Gadwal is taking all necessary measures to make sure that everything right from setting up polling booths, strong rooms for storing EVMs and vote counting centres in the district. 

While reviewing the arrangements for the elections, District Collector K Shashank, who is also acting as district election officer, visited Kottam Engineering College and inspected the premises for using it as a counting centre. 

The Collector gave directions to the concerned officials to ensure all arrangements like parking, barricades, food arrangements, toilets and other necessary things on the day of counting of votes.

“To conduct the upcoming elections in a smooth and peaceful manner we are taking all necessary steps. Accordingly, we have directed the Roads and Buildings officials to ensure all arrangements are put in place,” said Shashank.

Apart from ensuring the basic facilities on the day of counting, the Collector also directed the concerned officials to arrange strong room for Alampur and Gadwal separately and also set up spacious counting centres separately so that it will ease the counting process on the day of counting.

The Collector also directed tahasildar Narender to arrange observer rooms and media centres at each counting centre in the district. To ensure transparency, the Collector also directed EDM Farookh to ensure there is no power shortage and set up CCTV cameras, TVs at the counting centres in the district. As soon after the counting of votes is over, the officials will put the EVMS in the strong rooms under the security of central forces, informed the Collector. 

Ramulu, Returning officer Alampur, Narender Election Tahasildar, Naveen Kumar Deputy Engineer  R&B, Ramesh Reddy, Itikyala Tahasildar and others took part in the election arrangement review programme.
