Cops seize 3.59 crore

Warangal: The Warangal Commissionerate Police on late on Wednesday night seized Rs 3.59 crore, allegedly intended to lure the voters, from a residence at Siddharth Nagar in Kazipet. Speaking to the newspersons here on Thursday, Commissioner of Police V Ravinder disclosed the details.

The police, who found Komma Fathima Reddy alias Francis Reddy suspiciously moving near the excise police station area, frisked him. They recovered Rs 2 lakh wrapped in a packet. “88, Vadlakonda” was written on the packet. He also had a list of villages and polling stations of Wardhannapet constituency.

The accused revealed that money belongs to Wardhannapet Telangana Jana Samithi (TJS) candidate P Devaiah. Devaiah’s son-in-law Sandeep and Congress leader Amrutha Rao of Dharmasagar are friends of Francis Reddy.

The police, who searched his house, found a large dump of cash. The police also found papers related to P Devaiah’s online application seeking permission to hold a public meeting in Wardhannapet. Central Zone DCP B Venkat Reddy, Kazipet ACP Narsinga Rao and Taskforce ACP Chakravarthi were among others who took part in the raid.
