BC leaders flay SC ruling on quota
Musheerabad: The state president of BC Welfare Association, Jujula Srinivas Goud, has condemned the recent SC ruling limiting total reservations to 50 per cent for the upcoming panchayat elections. He alleged that some anti-reservation officials conspired to get the ruling from SC when the leaders were busy during the assembly elections. He said that he heard from reliable sources that efforts were being made to reduce reservations to BCs from 34 to 23 per cent and threatened to start an agitation against injustice if any attempt was made to reduce BC reservations. He was speaking at an emergency meeting of BC welfare association at BC Bhavan, Domalguda on Sunday.
Goud alleged that efforts were being made by forward caste leaders to reduce BC reservations for the upcoming panchayat elections. BCs constitute 56 per cent of total population and any effort to reduce BC reservation would be met with serious consequences, he said. He warned of starting a BC agitation in all the 31 districts of the state if any such attempt was made. He demanded that the state government file a writ petition against the recent SC ruling. BC welfare association members Durgaiah Goud, Shyam Kuruma, Vikram Goud, Ganesh Chari, Bairu Shekhar, Mahesh Yadav, Bathini Raju, Vijay Bhaskar and others attended the meeting.
