Ahmed Khan wins from Charminar

Hyderabad: In spite of all the speculations of a tough challenge from Praja Kutami, Former Yakutpura MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan won with a huge majority of 32,586 votes from Charminar.

The decision of swapping the constituencies with the former MLA of Charminar Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri purportedly over local anti-incumbency proved fruitful for Mumtaz Ahmed Khan. The five-time MLA from Yakutpura contested from Charminar following the decision made by the party chief, Asaduddin Owaisi.

He stood a clear winner against his close contestant T Uma Mahendra of BJP, who received 21,222 votes. Praja Kutami (Congress) candidate and former corporator Mohammed Ghouse received 16,899 votes, and TRS candidate Md Salahuddin Lodhi received 6,223 votes. Ecstatic over his victory, Ahmed Khan thanked all those who backed him in the elections.
