BJP demands EC to hold Assembly polls afresh
Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State unit delegation comprising MLA T Raja Singh, MLC N Ramachandra Rao and former MLA G Kishan Reddy demanded that the Election Commission annul the just concluded elections of the Telangana Legislative Assembly 2018 and hold fresh elections. In a representation submitted to State Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar, BJP MLA T Raja Singh, MLC N Ramachandra Rao and former MLA G Kishan Reddy alleged that the entire election process was full of irregularities.
The trio said that the revision of voters lists for the 2018 State Assembly elections has thrown certain strange numbers reflecting the deliberate attempts by the officials to add and delete votes In support of their allegations, they said in Amberpet Assembly constituency there are 3,121 voters with same house number but different EPIC numbers. Similarly, there are 424 voters with the same EPIC but with two votes in different polling stations and also 210 voters with the same EPIC in the same polling station.
Further, there are 5,576 interchange names with different EPICs. In total, there are a total of 9,331 voters showing double entries in the electoral list. What is more shocking was the electoral list showed only one vote in 20,448 houses, making it as if one is a voter living in thousands of houses which is impossible to think in any stretch of the imagination, they pointed out.
Kishan Reddy said it clearly demonstrates that the officials deliberately removed voters’ names from the list. That apart, in the other constituencies of the State there are many bogus votes and also purposefully the officials have deleted valid votes.
They said they are of the view, that the voters' list is being deliberately hidden from the general public and to support certain political parties and leaders. Earlier, names of the voters could be verified on the basis of their door numbers. However, now this facility has been discontinued only to protect the identity of bulk bogus voters in various Assembly Constituencies, they alleged.
Further, they also said that a lot of irregularities have happened during polling process, for instances, the signed copy of the register maintained during polling and the marked voters list used on the polling day will definitely show that irregularities have been committed.
What makes polling more historic was that in many constituencies the counted votes are more than actual polled votes. Similarly, the deletion of the votes just before the polling process is a deliberate attempt to delete the voters and several other irregularities have also been noticed including that of non-functioning of EVMs, VVPTs, etc, they said. The party general secretary filed an RTI application for collecting the related information with concerned authorities. However, till date there is no response to the same, they said.
