Kothagudem mine reaches production target 76 days in advance

Kothagudem: An open cast mine of Singareni Collieries Company Limited, GKOC, in Kothagudem area has achieved its coal production target 76 days ahead of the closure of the financial year.

The target for the current year 2018-19 was 30 lakh tonnes. The mine completed reached the target on Monday, informed the SCCL Kothagudem area General Manager (GM) KV Ramana Murthy in a statement here.

No other open cast mine or underground mine of the SCCL has achieved the target in such a manner. The GKOC has been completing its production targets much ahead of the closing date for the past two years. 

The GKOC finished its production target of 27 lakh tonnes in 47 days before the deadline in 2016-17 and production target of 30 lakh tonnes in 32 days before the closure of financial year 2017-18, the GM said.   

This year, the mine could achieve 35.92 lakh tonnes production, Ramana Murthy hoped. He congratulated the project officer Shalom Raju, manager K Karunakar Rao and the employees.
