Vote most powerful weapon in democracy

Siddipet:“Voting is the most powerful weapon in a democracy,” said collector Krishna Bhaskar while flagging off the rally to mark the National Voters day here on Friday. The rally was begun at Ambedkar circle and took out to inculcate the importance of right to vote in the public.The Collector said that people has become more aware of their voting right in the last 20 years, which is a good sign to democracy.

 With recently held Telangana Assembly elections in view, he says, that the state recorded 73 per cent voter turnout in recent Assembly elections, whereas Siddipet witnessed 84 per cent. He called upon the youngsters, who turned 18, to enroll their names in voter list and exercise the franchise to protect the spirit of democracy.

The Collector handed over voter identity cards to newly enrolled voters and felicitated senior citizens. DRO Chandrasekhar, RDO Jayachandra Reddy, DEO Ravikanth and other staff members were present.
