No permanent buildings for village panchayats

Karimnagar: Everyone knows that ‘villages are the backbone of a county’ and they should be developed. But in reality, all are ignoring the villages and their development. The situation is worse in Karimnagar district where there are no permanent buildings for village panchayats till date, which is most essential for a village to grow. Construction works of panchayat buildings in many villages are going on in phases after the formation of the TRS government.
The TRS has kept its promise of making thandas into village panchayats soon after coming to power. With this the number of village panchayats has increased from 276 to 313 with the formation of 37 new village panchayats.

Out of the total 313 village panchayats, construction works of several panchayat buildings are not yet completed and are going on at a snail’s pace in the district. while there are no signs of constructing panchayat buildings in some villages and in the newly formed 37 village panchayats in the district.
Out of the four – Vennampalli, Yelabotharam, Ammanagurthi and Saidapur - village panchayats in Saidapur mandal, construction works of only two panchayat buildings in Ammanagurthi and Saidapur are in progress and construction of remaining two buildings are in pending due to non-availability of land.
Three panchayat buildings were sanctioned for three village panchayats - Challur, Korkal and Reddypalli of Veenavanka mandal but the construction is yet to begin.

In Jammikunta mandal, funds were sanctioned for constructing panchayat buildings for 11 village panchayats under Employment Guarantee Scheme but the construction works of only three panchayat buildings are in progress.
Same is the case in Shankarpatnam mandal. Even after funds sanctioned for constructing two panchayat buildings, the works are to commence. As the construction works of panchayat buildings of old village panchayats are in progress and some are yet to start, allegedly due to officials’ negligence and previous governing bodies of village panchayats, the newly elected panchayat body is in quandary whether the government sanctions funds or not for constructing panchayat buildings for the 37 newly formed village panchayats
