Command centre set up to keep eye on NH 202
Hyderabad: With an aim to reduce the crime rate on the National Highway 202 and also to ensure women’s safety in the IT corridor, Rachakonda police and Infosys on Monday jointly set up a community CCTV command and control centre at Ghatkesar police station which will receive feed from 182 high-end cameras.
After inaugurating the centre, Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh M Bhagwat said that he approached the Infosys seeking their helping hand in order to strengthen the women safety and prevention of crimes on National Highway 202. The Infosys Foundation came forward to take up the community CCTV project along theNational Highway 202 and Infosys campus in Pocharam area.
He made an appeal to corporates to take up installations of CCTVs as part of their corporate social responsibility activity. CP said the crime rate has fallen drastically in CCTVs surveillance areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Infosys Foundation chairperson Sudha Murthy said,“there is an urgent need to look into the problem of human trafficking and Infosys is ready for its contribution towards eradication of this menace.” She also congratulated Mahesh Bhagwat for his outstanding performance in checking human trafficking.
The community CCTV project has been taken with an aim to control crime against women, subversive activities of anti-social elements, crime prevention, road safety and disaster management etc.Rachakonda police have decided to install 182 high-end cameras in which 46 Mobotix and 136 Axis cameras from Uppal Junction to Capol in Kondamadugu area on National Highway 202 covering a stretch of 23 kilometers with 4,400 square feet centralized Command Control Centre at Ghatkesar police station with an estimated cost of approximately Rs 5 crore.
The teams of Infosys and IT cell of Rachakonda are jointly monitoring the work. A new building has been built for command control centre (CCC), which also accommodates SHE team office for its operations related to women security in Malkajgiri zone especially in IT corridor. The CCC of Ghatkesar will be connected to Telangana State integrated Command Control Centre cum Disaster Management Centre being built at Banjara Hills.
