3-day training for Student Police Cadets ends
Adilabad: The wards selected for the Student Police Cadet (SPC) concluded their first training session here on Wednesday. It may be noted here that Adilabad district is the first in the State to introduce SPC, a youth development initiative promoted by the Ministry of Home Affairs aimed at encouraging youth to develop respect for law and practice abiding by law as a way of life.
Under the programme, the district police had selected 168 students (82 from Adilabad, 44 from Utnoor and 42 from Ichoda) based on their physical fitness and written test. As part of the training, a three-day session was conducted by the police.
The students were provided with kit bags, two sets of uniforms, a pair of shoes and study material besides lodging and boarding, District Crime Records Bureau Inspector B Srinivas said. While the cadets’ outdoor training session included parade, drill, yoga, march past etc., the indoor activity focused on road accidents, traffic regulation, fire services, social media etc, he said.
Superintendent of Police Vishnu S Warrier interacted with the cadets and told them to believe in their inner strength and excel in their chosen path. “The training is considered as a long-term sustainable and constructive solution to major internal security challenges,” the SP said. The training will toughen these cadets and their services will be used if required by the authorities, he said. It is learnt that the next training session will be of a fortnight and it will start within a short time.
