Solve public problems, Bahujan Left Front demands
Karimnagar: Bahujan Left Front (BLF) leaders and representatives of various students’ unions staged a sit-in dharna at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, demanding solution to the various problems being faced by the public in Karimnagar district.
Speaking on the occasion, BLF district convener Geetla Mukunda Reddy said that they noted down various problems the people are suffering with, during their house hold survey, conducted as part of Palle Bata programme in every village and wards in towns and cities.
These issues have been taken to the notice of the government on several occasions but of no use, he said.Reddy demanded that the government should construct a new advanced type building in the place of Arts and Science College, instead of shifting it to some other place, to identity cards to the tenant farmers and fixing of MSP to the produce, to give a bonus of Rs 800 per quintal of food grains to the farmers like that of Kerala government.
Their other demands are establishment of a welfare board for hamali workers and issuing of identity cards to them, to prevent encroachment of parks in the city, to allot double bedroom houses to all eligible homeless poor people and implementation of 12 per cent reservations for Muslim minorities.
When the police interrupted the dharna, heated argument took place between the former and BLF leaders and students union leaders. Later, the police arrested the leaders and shifted them to police station. BLF leaders M Sai Babu, Wasim Ahmed, N Venkata Swamy, M Vasudeva Reddy, K Vamshi, S Sampath, M Srinivas Reddy, V Venkat Reddy, B Shekar, G Satyam, G Bhima Saheb, V Raju, M Bhagya Lakshmi, V Raji Reddy, M Tirupathi Naik and S Rajinikanth were present.
